How can I receive credit for voluntary work or job shadowing?
Credit can be obtained for voluntary work and job shadowing through IDEAs Service Learning program. Service Learning must be pre-approved by the students contact teacher. Please see the Service Learning section of the IDEA web-site for details and forms. How much credit may I earn for work-study and how is it graded? 1. No more than credit of work-study will be approved per semester. 2. Up to 1 academic credit per calendar year may be granted for work-study, at the discretion of your contact teacher. 3. A maximum of 4 credits of work-study can be earned. 4. To receive high school credit, students need to complete 90 hours of work. To receive 1 high school credit, students need to complete 180 hours of work. 5. The work-study program is intended to allow students to learn about the world of work and to explore different careers. Therefore, a maximum of one credit will be awarded for each type of job.
