How can i program a door lock remote key for a bmw 2001?
I believe that your key does not have the replaceable battery. It does have the accumulator/capacitor type battery which is built-in to the key and which charges while inserted in the keyhole with the ignition on or engine running. If the battery is bad then you need a new key. But first try to initialize the key …get inside car, turn on ignition key or start vehicle for a few seconds, remove key and point in general direction of rearview mirror, press and hold open door button, then press three consecutive times the lock button, continue to hold open door button till doors cycle open/close, if it does not then just try the key remote if it now works. If it does not then the key has to be replaced. If another (duplicate key) works then it just proves that one key is bad. If both keys do not work along with the internal switch, then the problem is with the central locking system (key remote antenna and general module).
