How can I prevent, scan and clean an email virus infection?
A. Viruses, worms and trojans can spread and infect computers in a number of different ways – through email messages, word documents or even simply through an Internet connection. All Cal Poly Pomona email messages and attachments are scanned by our email server antivirus software (known as Sophos) before they are delivered to your email account. This significantly reduces our risk of receiving a virus through the email system. However, because new viruses are continually appearing, there are times when a virus may pass through the email system. Consequently, there are steps you can personally take to help prevent such an infection.
