How can I prevent Amebiasis?
There is no vaccine for amebiasis. If you are traveling to an area where amebiasis is common, make sure to drink bottled water or boil the water and do not drink drinks with ice cubes. Also do not eat any unpasteurized dairy products, and food from street vendors, or any fruit you did not peel yourself. Careful hand washing can help prevent amebiasis, especially after going to the bathroom and before preparing food.
