How can I plan ahead to make move-in day go smoothly?
If you are able, try to attend our Open House. This is a service we provide to our new students so that they can see their rooms, consider move-in logistics, ask questions of staff, and perhaps even meet roommates. While this isn’t a required visit, about half of our new students take advantage of this event. More details will be available in your housing information email that will arrive in mid-July. Weather can be your friend or foe at check-in. Typical Quad-Cities weather in mid-August is hot and steamy and sometimes rainy as well, so plan accordingly. Here again, we’ll remind you that it’s best to pack lightly as a new student as this greatly facilitates the move-in process. Do bring items that will make you feel comfortable and at home, but larger items in particular might be best brought later. Talk to your roommate and decide who will bring what.
