How can i overcome years of resentments, anger and hate?
i grew up in a similar household…abusive and neglect…. i had resentment and anger issues as a teen….including anger outbursts…. i’ve found out that meditation and zen training helped alot…. my family has notice a major change, esp with anger issues…. yes i still get angry, i’m human, but i don’t have anger outburst anymore…. also learned to even laugh at myself…. i hope this helps…BTW… in practising zen techniques, you don’t have to change religion or become a buddhist…
I am sorry you had such a bad child hood and all you had to go through as well. There is one good thing about it is you believe in God. Do you go to church? If you do talk to the preacher, if not get into going to a church, get some friends you can trust. You said your going to counseling that right there is a great step for you. Ask God to help you to get rid of this hurt and hate and all, ask Him to give you the strength to go forward and to let your past die. He does give us all that we need at times like this. I wasn’t mentally abused but sexually I was and it did cause me a lot of problems when I grew up. To this day I still have some problems but each day I am getting better.
