How can I mute/un-mute drum kit sounds with pads or keyboard?

This is possible with System Exclusive messages. You can record these messages into patterns, and then assign them to the pads or the keyboard via RPS. In this case, you need to create a mute pattern and an un-mute pattern. So, make sure the Transmit Edit Data is ON in the MIDI section of your system settings, and then create the mute/un-mute patterns the following way (say for the kick drum): • Go to sequencer, select pattern mode, choose pattern 1 (or whatever pattern is empty). • Select the drum kit part, press [PATCH EDIT], hit the kick key. • Go to the TVA tab, set level to 1. • Start recording, and press the [DEC] key at the very beginning of the pattern. This will record the volume change to 0 as a SysEx message. You may want to go to Micro Edit to make sure the SysEx message got placed at the first beat. • Now exit PATCH EDIT and select pattern 2. • Back to PATCH EDIT, TVA tab. • Set level to 126 (or, if it wasn’t 127 at the start, set t current value minus one). • Start record
