I’m using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and based on my experience, I’m doing a mirror image by copying the image into another layer (or even in the same layer but I prefer to duplicate it in the other layer) then using the Free Transform or Flip horizontal/vertical (depend on the position you would like to place the mirror image). You can also add effects on the mirror image by putting some opacity/transparency.

Beginners’ Corner: Creating a Mirror Image Instructions call for both original and mirror images. In your case you only need note 3 NOTE 3. Flip – Select Menu Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal and your image will flip to mirror the original image.
