How can I make the selection process faster especially when xref data is included?
To see performance improvements with external references, make sure the following has been done: Save the drawings you are referencing in Release 14 drawing format, with spatial and layer indexes turned ON. You can access these index settings from the Options button in the Save dialog box (or set INDEXCTL to 3). Enable Xref demand loading in the host (parent) drawing by selecting the Performance tab of the Preferences dialog, (or set XLOADCTL to 1 or 2). When demand loading Xref files, AutoCAD keeps the xref files open to allow quick access to the data when more Xref information is needed. If XLOADCTL is set to 2, AutoCAD will also create copies of the referenced files (and leave them open) so that other users can have read-write access the original Xref files.
