How can I make sure that owls and other wildlife are not picking up poisoned rats?
Search for bodies of poisoned rats at regular intervals during rodenticide treatments – the more frequent the better – because they carry residues that may harm wildlife. Handle bodies carefully – they may carry diseases. Dispose of them properly. If you know that the treated site is used by owls, consider alternatives to rodenticides such as traps, particularly if rodent infestations are small.
