I remember way back in the day (7th grade) when I had to make my own journal for school. As I remember it, I used cardboard to do it. What you could do is: Take four pieces of cardboard cut to whatever size you need. If you are making it for paper that is approximately 8 1/2″ x 11″ (standard sized paper), then the covers should be at least 10″ x 12″, or there abouts. Use two pieces of cardboard (to make it sturdy) to form the front cover, and the back cover. You could use fabric and a hot glue gun to cover the two cardboard pieces, or even faux leather found at any craft and fabric store if you want it to look ancient. If you are looking to use a picture or of pattern, many of these craft stores offer iron on designs, but be sure to read the directions as to what materials are recommended. Places like Barnes and Nobles book stores offer “clipart” books that range from Celtic designs, letter, Japanese inspired clipart, etc. that you could easily copy the design, scan into a computer, an
