How can I make iVisit work best on a broadband connection?
If you have broadband access you will generally be limited by end-to-end bandwidth across the Internet rather than by the performance of your local connection (unless you are connecting to someone nearby to you on the same ISP). I have heard that typical ISP back haul provisioning for DSL is around 1.5 Mbps per 200 subscribers. I imagine cable is similar. This means that if all subscribers are active at once, you can expect about 7 kbps through put. Of course, all subscribers will not be active at once, and ISP’s will allocate more back haul bandwidth as demand increases (it’s not that expensive relative to their other costs). But, the main point is that you cannot expect sustained data rates across the Internet anywhere near to your access speed.
