The Stylus 600 loses its weatherproof capability if the battery compartment cover or the connector cover is open. Make sure that all the covers are closed before using the camera. It is possible, though not common, for water to enter the camera when the lens is in motion, such as when the camera is powered on in a shooting mode, when the optical zoom is operated, or when the Power Save function turns the camera off after a period of idleness.
