This has always worked for me: Right-click on your start menu and choose properties. Switch to the Start Menu tab if you’re not already there. Click on the Customize button near the radio labeld “Start Menu”. At the bottom of the resulting window, there’s a section titled “Show on Start Menu” and a place to specify your internet and email clients. Choose Eudora for your email, and you should be good. If this doesn’t work: It’s possible Outlook may not be playing nice, and intentionally setting itself as default at startup. If you have the Office Toolbar thingy loading at startup remove it via: Start > Run > type in “msconfig” Switch to the Startup tab, find the program, and uncheck it. Hope that works for you.

Below are step by step instructions on setting up your Eudora as your default email in Vista from eudora.com: Issue: Every time I try to set Eudora as the default email program on Windows Vista, I get the message “Eudora was unable to update the system registry. Your default mail program has not been changed”. Solution: 1. Go to Start then Control Panel. 2. In The Control Panel click on Network and Internet. 3. Click on Internet Options. 4. In Internet Properties, click on the Programs tab. 5. Click on the set programs tab in the Internet programs section. 6. In the Set your default programs, click on Eudora to highlight it, and then click on Set this program as default. 7. If still having issues uninstalled Eudora and reinstalled it then it should be the default email client. KEYWORDS: EPWIN, VISTA, DEFAULT, DEFAULT MAIL Link: http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/27
