Unfortunately you don’t need pets to have fleas. Often they travel on squirrels and bunnies into your yard, the fleas jump on you and you walk them into your home. You can buy foggers, you can buy powders that you sprinkle down and vacuum up, you can also buy sprays or you can hire a pest control company. If you use the foggers, don’t set them off near a smoke detector as it will activate them and plan to be out of your home for several hours.

You may want a professional exterminator for your yard. For inside the home, make aggressive use of Borax and a vacuum cleaner. Wash your bedding and curtains. While you’re at it, sprinkle your furniture and carpet liberally with borax and let it sit at least 20 minutes. Vacuum it up, and keep vacuuming every day for at least 2 weeks so you’ll get the eggs and newly-hatched fleas. Good luck!
