How can i kill a stump?
I hope those aren’t species that sucker! You can kill the stump, grind the stump, but the roots will continue to give you presents for a couple of years…..or decades in true monsters. Depends on how much time and energy you want to put into this. Remember with a stump grinder you’ll only be able to remove about 6″ below the soil line. That may be enough, maybe not. Burning may work in rural areas, but isn’t going to fly in cities with neighbors and air quality concerns. Also the wood has to be dry before it burns. If the stumps are still “fresh” chip out bowls in the trunk, pack it full of manure and slow release nitrogen fertilizer (like Scotts Turf Builder) and keep moist. I mound soil over this as well to keep it moist…….adding water as necessary. After a season I check the progress. Hopefully the microbes in the soil or compost and slow release nitrogen and the moisture have begun the decomp process. I’ve even considered building a compost pile atop some of the stumps, but ha
