How can I keep my toilet flowing freely without using toxic chemicals or calling a plumber?

Try the following: 1) Flush more (say twice after crap instead of once) if you can. This will escalate your water bill slowly and steadily. (in other words, one time repair cost could be smaller). 2) Change the toilet paper. In my experience, Kleenex tissues and Charmin bath-rolls are very tough they don’t get damaged enough in water. OTOH, Scott’s thin paper and Safeway Softly dissociates well inside toilet bowl. 3) Keep a plunger. 4) Reduce paper consumption if you can. Don’t throw a lot of paper in the toilet bowl. 5) Don’t throw paper towels in the toilet bowl. Hope tht helps.
