How can I keep my baby from waking at night or get him back to sleep quickly?

Try to make sure he gets as full as necessary before bed, that way he can try to stay asleep all night without waking up hungry. Sometimes my son wakes up for a minute and is fussy, but I give him a second to get back to sleep by himself. If he knows you are not going to run in there everytime he makes a peep he might not do it as much. Sounds like he has developed a pattern, but you need to change it to better suit you. I recently took the night light out of my son’s room and he has been sleeping all night with no interuptions, you might try that too. When I put my son to bed with a bottle the rest of the room is completely dark except for his singing box attatched to his crib that he watches every night when he falls asleep.

Depends on how old he is. He may still need night feedings, in which case there isn’t much you can do besides feed him. My daughter is 7 months old and hasn’t really needed night feedings for a few months. Now on the rare occasions that she wakes up in the night, I first of all wait for a couple minutes and see if she’ll settle down on her own. If she doesn’t, I go over and pat her back or belly (whichever is up) and maybe give her the pacifier but she usually spits it back out. This will get her back to sleep 90% of the time. If it doesn’t, I will pick her up and rock with her until she falls asleep and I put her back in her crib. If she wakes up a second time, I take her to bed with me because I can’t afford to lose the sleep of getting up over and over again.
