Here is a workflow developed by Marc MccAlmont that preserves quality, but saves time: “I’ve had an iPF5000 since July, 2006. Here is what works for me after a lot of experimentation. In Photoshop I resize the file to 6″x9″, 600 PPI, using bicubic smoother. When all adjustments are complete I use smart sharpen/lens blur. I save this as my master file. I print only with the plugin, 600dpi and let it resize using bilinear interpolation (no sharpening set for the plugin). I have found this to be optimum with a reasonable file size. I tried up-rezzing to a full sized file with bicubic smoother, genuine fractals and Qimage/pyrimid/print to file and am hard pressed to see any difference when compared to the above method (letting the plugin resize a sharpened 6×9 600ppi file). The large files are not worth the hassle for a questionable improvement.” Note: Bilinear interpolation can be set in the print plugin from the Main tab, by choosing Set Configuration.
