How can I increase my computers virtual memory?
Increasing your virtual memory won’t speed up your computer, in fact when you use virtual memory, your computer will run at approximately 1/10th the speed of normal. What you want to do is buy more ram…. virtual memory is something you use when you’re out of ram. If you just want the easiest way to know what type of ram you need, buy it from your computer’s website, otherwise you’ll need somebody who understands your ram’s setting to figure out the exact type. To figure out how much you have, right click My Computer in the Start bar and pick properties. The 2nd to last line of text will tell you how much MB or GB you have. It’s best to have 1GB (1,024MB) of memory for XP or Vista, but Vista will prefer 2GB. Ram is very cheap, you can buy this for $40 easily.
