Getting your form correct is very important. Practicing poor form only helps you become good at being bad. Every shooter has just two things to do, shoot straight and judge distance. You likely have one or two flaws that make one or both of those difficult. Here are the highlights of what we teach at Shot Doctor basketball camps. Grip: First finger in the center of the ball. Body Position: Point your feet towards the basket. Set up: Set the line of your forearm towards the center of the rim. Keep your elbow at an “L” position all the way up to your release. Follow through: Lift and freeze. Lift means get your elbow above your eyebrow. Freeze means hold your follow through until the ball hits the basket. Shoot with just one hand. The non-shooting hand helps lift the ball but separates before release.
