How can I improve image quality in InDesign CS4?
InDesign by default places what is essentially a proxy image, a low resolution placeholder version of the image. This is to save space, because if you had every image at high resolution you would end up with monstrous files. A good way to test this is to print one page of the file with an image on it and see if the printed version is okay. When InDesign prints, it goes to the actual image. Also when prepping a file for printing, it’s a good idea to run the Package function: this allows InDesign to pull together everything needed, including linked images and fonts, into one folder with the document you created.
