Contact local universities and see if they have a games club – these are often fertile ground for finding Diplomacy players near you. Some of them may know of tournaments in your local area. Complete novices are always welcome at tournaments (even if you don’t know how to play). Just make yourself known to the Tournament Director at least an hour before the round so you can be brought up to speed ready for your first game.
