How can i get scratches from a scouring pad off my stainless steel hob?
If the hob is polished to a mirror finish you will need to get some very fine wet and dry sanding paper and using either water or polish ,polish the steel until the scratches are polished out .You can use a power drill with a polishing mop attachment and use polishing waxes to speed up the process .If it has a brushed finish you can use blueblock sanding blocks which are rubber blocks impregnated with grit of varying coarseness use these to rub the steel in the same direction as the current brushed finish .Remove as many obstructions like knobs and switches as you can and try to rub in a continuous fluid motion always maintaining one direction. It will be difficult to achieve the same standard of brushed finish as most of these are done by machines automatically but you should be able to blend in most of the scratches.
