How can i get prepared for a tornado?
Basements are the safest place, otherwise a room with no windows, like a hall on the lowest floor of the house. It is a good thing to have a battery powered radio, because even without a tornado, many severe storms cause power outages. Have bottled water and some snacks, if you are in a shelter for a while. If there are small kids, take some things for them to play with and some snacks, etc. Keep a kind of emergency bag ready if you have babies, if you have an area where you go in a storm, keep the things there as much as possible so you don’t have to scramble to get things. If you have a table, work bench or anything like that, in the basement, try and get under it, because even in a basement things could fall on your. Always keep your head and eyes covered as much as possible. Just because it is hot does not mean there will be a tornado.
