How can I get my rental application accepted w/bad credit (condo, townhouse etc.)?

If the landlord is doing the rental him/herself, I have found that most of the time they look upon prior rental history, income and job stability more than FICO scores. However, property management companies are usually more stringent about credit scores, especially if the rental market is tight and the property is desirable. Usually with scores under 650-ish, you can usually still rent (as long as you have no evictions or bankruptcy), but a higher deposit may be required. I suggest that you pull your own credit report (myfico.com) to take with you. That way, you don’t waste a hard inquiry (which can lower your scores by a few points), you know what is on your credit, and you can explain any negatives.
