How can I get IDL and MacX to work without crashing?

Using MacX v1.2 and IDL cause the Mac to crash quite often. This happens especially during allocation of color resources or display windows. You can get around the problem by downgrading to MacX v1.1.7 (apparently Apple will supply this if you can prove to them that you rightfully own v1.2). Another solution is to purchase White Pine’s eXodus software. Rumors are that eXodus is an overall better product than MacX.
