How can I get a drainage pipe installed in the front of my yard to enclose an existing ditch, or provide a driveway?

The enclosure of a roadside ditch on a County maintained public road is a common request within single family residential neighborhoods. County policy prohibits the installation of additional storm sewer pipe in front of any single family lot that is located within a subdivision approved after October 14, 1981. Pipe may be permitted to be installed in a roadside ditch for the purpose of a new driveway in subdivisions approved after October 14, 1981. The length of pipe for a driveway cannot exceed 40 feet. A review of the specific lot will be made for any single family lots which does not fall into the above-mentioned category to determine whether the existing ditch can be enclosed. Contact the Road Maintenance Division at 727-8300 for additional information relating to the cost responsibilities a property owner would have to bear for the installation of the pipe, as well as to request a review of a specific lot.
