How can I get 1080p on my VPL-VW 50 projector?
Congratulations on your purchase of an excellent high definition projector; Sony’s new VPL-VW50 projector is one of the best values in video equipment. First, make certain that your VPL-VW50 projector and PlayStation 3 have the latest updates installed. [1][2] If you haven’t done so check the settings on your PS3 [1]: Is the “Video Output Settings” under “Display Settings” set to the “Manual” output of “1080p” or is it set to “Automatic”? Either setting should provide a 1080p connection, though “Automatic” should be the preferred choice. *(Note: for ATSC regions and 1920×1080 video formats the PS3 will only output 1080/60i or 1080/60p not 1080/24p.) Also, as you may be aware it is highly recommended that you never attempt to force your projector to use a display setting that does not match the incoming video input signal.
