How can I fix the trouble Im having opening/downloading certain types of files from WebCT in Internet Explorer?
A number of people have reported Internet Explorer download problems in WebCT with Word docs and RTF files. When trying to download these files, either from Manage Files or a Single Page link on an Organizer Page, WebCT sends you back to the homepage and then you have to initiate the download again. With some links to RTF (Rich Text Format) files, the process repeats. To correct this, make the following changes to Microsoft Internet Explorer: From Tools/Internet Options, select the Security tab. Choose the “Custom level…” button to select the customization features for this tab. Scroll down to “Downloads” and make sure the selction for “Automatic prompting for file downloads” is set to “Enable.” Select the “OK” button for the Security settings, and then the “OK” button for Internet Options and then restart the browser. The links and downloads should now open an Open/Save window, allowing you to open the file directly or save it.
