How can I fix my old DeWalt 10″ direct drive table saw?
I have an old DeWalt 10″ direct drive table saw that I bought used, and it has worked fine for years. Today, while ripping a stack of 8′ 1x3s, it bogged down and stopped working. It was hot, but not overly so–nothing smelled burnt, and I could leave my bare hand on the motor. Several years ago, it stopped the same way while ripping 2x4s and worked again just fine once it had cooled off, but this time I let it cool thoroughly and tried clicking the little red reset button on the motor, but to no avail. The metal info tag doesn’t give a model number, but it does say “Mach. No. 131 A”, and also gives a serial number. It is mostly blue and it has a heavy, cast iron table, if that helps Identify the model. If there’s any economical way to repair it, I would sure like to do so.
