Well you could get a simple blood test done…a CBC (complete blood count). You also get to know whether you’re anaemic in the process so bonus with that 🙂 Otherwise, i don’t know if its done in the UK, but every baby born in my country has this baby card with all the details – height, wieght, blood type etc….my mum obviously kept it and i knew my blood type through that even before i started giving blood. I’m sure your mother will have something similar.
