Kiku has it completely wrong. If you can prove deductions (as shown on payslips) you will be given credit for amounts deducted, and HMRC will chase employer for monies due. Otherwise are your wages paid straight to bank, with evidence of receipts on statements? If you have no documentary evidence of deductions, employer still held responsible, as he is not fulfilling his legal obligations as an employer, and it is his problem. Actual payments made by him are confidential, and you won’t be told if he is in arrears. Were you there as at 5th April last, and did you get a form P60? If so, take great care of it, could be important if employer dilatory.
