How can I find out about my Native American ancestry?
Provo Utah is a long way from Sioux territory, but who knows. You have to start by doing the family genealogy. Working backwards from yourself. Get as much information from living members of your family as you can. You can do quite a bit of research on-line, a real good place for free research is http://www.familysearch.org That is the website for the LDS Church and has many useful tools you will be able to use. They have a free software download called PAF (Personal Ancestral File) it’s a very good genealogy program, I have been using for 25 years without a glitch. You can also find out from that website if there is an LDS Family History Center near you. You can go there and get very good advice and help to get started in the right direction. You don’t have to be a member of the LDS Church to go there. They won’t do the work for you but will be more than glad to help YOU do it. If you are successful in finding your gggrandfather
