How can I feel better about moving countries?
It’s completely natural. I don’t have a lot of advice, but if you’re feeling organised a month out, you’re well ahead of the game. I know something like thirty people around your age who’ve moved to London from Wellington in the last few years and by all accounts the job market isn’t bad (there’s anecdotal evidence that New Zealanders have a great reputation as hard workers in England, and I have friends living comfortably while only temping a few days a week), and getting home isn’t the most difficult thing in the world. Culturally, we’re pretty similar, and having a boyfriend who’s a local will make it a whole lot easier. You’re not going on your OE, and that’s fine, but it sounds like you’re approaching it like an OE, and that’s getting you worried. Remember that you’re not going over there with no support and no money to live in a Kombi and beg outside Tescos. It’s bought and paid for, and you have a built-in support network in your boyfriend and his family. Plus there are ridiculo
