How can I feed the birds in my garden without also giving meals to mice?

You can try but you might not have much luck, they’re sneaky little things. Make sure theres no leftover food lying about at the end of the day, you might want to buy a bird feeding station kit but do grease the pole, which might help (I once saw a photo someone had posted on a bird group I belong to, it was a normal sized 4 perch feeder hanging from a branch and the mouse was INSIDE the feeder happily gorging himself!!!) Oh and if you’re feeding the birds please continue to do so all year round as recommended by the RSPB as once they find your feeders they will put your garden on their ‘daily route’ to get the food. If the food is suddenly stopped it means they have used up valuable energy to get there only to find the cupboard bare, so to speak 🙂 It will soon be the breeding season and the extra help will be appreciated when the young come along. Sorry..this is probably more info than you wanted but I tend to get carried away on this subject..
