How can I encourage my teething toddler to eat solids?

What’s the rush. He will eat with utensils eventually. Make sure he has good, healthful foods, plenty of water (no juice), and everything will be Ok. I am willing to bet that once you take the pressure off to eat “solids” using spoons and forks, he will eat his finger foods for a week or so and then pick up the spoon with one hand, Pick up the food with the other and hold the food on the spoon while he puts it in his mouth. Make a big deal about what a big boy he is. In many cases, young “independent” babies want to assert their control. Feeding and pooping are all they can control, and they are not that good at either. Relax and enjoy the show… I know the dog will!
