The best solution is to use an instrument with humbucking pickups if at all possible. Nightclubs seem to have the worst lighting due to all the dimmers, mirror balls, fans, air conditioners and all the cables under the stage. Also some of the stages are so small that you are literally a foot from your amplifier and others that can interfere with you pickups. Single coil pickups always seem to be the worst and I ve played on stage with my guitar at a 90 degree angle to the band. At the end of a song you need to turn to reduce all the noise and I remember playing next to a taxi dispatcher and hearing all the taxi calls coming through my amp.
