Here is what I have found. 1) You may use Microsoft Word to convert Word files to PDF. If you don’t have Miscrosoft Office you can use Open Office which is a free software and can read all word files. In fact I switched to Open Office some time ago and I am not using MS Word anymore. http://www.openoffice.org/ If you open OpenOffice.Org Writer and go to File > Export as PDF… you can convert Word files to PDF. 2) For converting other types of files to PDF the only thing that I have found for free is some websites that do it online and email you the converted file. Some of them do this only a few times per email. Others have less or no restriction. If you want to use it for limited times you can use adobe website.
