How can I draw a gear on Auto Cad or Inventor?

On AutoCad, the circular array command is probably the easiest. Start by drawing a circle, then one tooth, then do a 360 degree array with the angle between the teeth specified (then delete the circle). Actually, my AutoCad is a little rusty; it might be the polar array rather than the circular. Edit – that part’s harder. You have to know (at least some of) the dimensions before you start. AutoCad may (MAY) be able to draw a parabola, but if the curve has a complicated equation, I don’t know. You might be better off generating a table of values and plotting points by coordinates and connecting them with a polyline.
