AIM is AOL’s popular instant messenger client. While there have been versions released past AIM 6.8, older versions of the client are still available to download and install. If you’re willing to put up with frequent nagging to upgrade, there’s no reason you can’t continue using a legacy version of the software into perpetuity. But there’s a tradeoff–by using an older version of the software, you’re sacrificing some new features and functionality, as well as any security updates that have been issued by AOL since the software’s release. Go to Filehippo.com, a host of legacy version of software including AIM. Search for AIM 6.8 and choose a version to download. There are several subreleases available within the 6.8 version, each with minor differences in the code. Download the file. It will be in .EXE format, which is a Windows executable.
