How can I discourage birds of prey from taking pheasant poults and disturbing them in pens?
Pheasants are at most risk when overcrowded or in bare floored pens. Ensure they have plenty of space, and encourage ground cover. Follow the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust’s ‘Guidelines for sustainable gamebird releasing’ to achieve this. Birds of prey can be deterred for a while by leaving a radio playing continuously.
