How can I Decide what Size my Breasts should be Following Augmentation Mammaplasty?
Breast size does not necessarily equate breast beauty. Enlarged breasts are beautiful only if the shape is good. After pre-op discussion, and review of photos (you are welcome to bring photos from magazines if you desire), our doctors usually recommend that the breast be augmented to the largest size that is attainable without leading to distortion of the breast shape. This is an important concept, because if the only goal is to achieve the largest conceivable breast size, there will be a point where the overall shape compromises the breast’s appearance. At the time of surgery, our doctors insert a temporary disposable breast implant sizer, which is used to determine the largest implant size that still maintains a beautiful breast shape. The doctors then use the permanent saline implants of the same volume and make final adjustments to the pockets to maximize breast symmetry and shape.
