How can I convert from an Initial Professional Teaching Certificate to a Professional Teaching Certificate valid for five years?
Applicants are eligible to convert to a Professional Teaching Certificate valid for five years provided he/she meets the following requirements: 1) holds an Initial Professional Teaching Certificate; 2) meets the renewal requirements for that certificate; 3) successfully completes the beginning teacher internship, 4) completes two years of educational experience within one or a combination of the endorsements listed on the certificate being considered for conversion (one year of which must in WV); 5) receives the recommendation of the superintendent for whom the educator is employed or last taught; 6) submits the application Form 4 available at http://wvde.state.wv.us/certification/forms/Form04.
