It is necessary to avoid bitmapped (i.e. MetaFont) fonts, which Acrobat Reader is well known to render very badly on screen (see Example1.pdf). This is not a problem if using standard Adobe fonts (Times, etc., see Example3.pdf), but if using standard TEX fonts (Computer Modern, etc.
