The Sony CCD-TRV128 is an analog video, 8mm tape based, consumer grade camcorder. There is no direct connection available to get the video on that analog tape to a computer – you need an “analog/digital converter” between the camcorder and computer. Using the AV cables that came with the camcorder (or suitable replacements), connect the camcorder to the A/D converter. Then connect the A/D converter to the computer. You can also use a “video capture card” in the computer, but it depends on which computer you have. If you go with the “A/D converter”, there are some low end units that connect to the computer using a USB cable. Hauppage, Pinnacle (Dazzle) and Roxio make them – lots of other manufaturers, too. If your computer has a firewire port (also called IEEE1394, i.LINK or DV), then Canopus ADVC55 or ADVC110 are good.
