Your problem is that you have to add something new to your system in order to get OTA (over the air via an external antenna) TV after February. That something is an ATSC tuner, which exists at the input of your new converter. Since the ATSC tuner is totally new, you have nothing at present that will operate it, so you have no choice but to select incoming digital OTA channels via the new converter–either with its own remote or on its front panel. But there’s good news: you will no longer have to change channels with your VCR–the only channel changing is done via the converter as explained above. Just connect the RF output of the converter (which should be something like analog channel 3 or 4) to the antenna input of the VCR and leave the VCR on that channel (3 or 4 in this example) permanently.
