How can I clean stone tiles in my living room?

Since you don’t say what type of stone it is, be careful using anything acidic on stones that are highly polished and pourous like marble as it will etch and cloud the surface. If it is unhoned and unpolished, like a tumbled travertine or marble, do not use anything detergent based as it will leave a residue that will remain in the “holes” attract and collect airbone dust and look dirty in short order. Unfinished limestone also requires gentle care because most cleaners will darken it permanently as will anything that has an oil component. Your best bet on almost any stone is a product specifically made for all types of stone, like TileLab which is sold at stone yards and now in the home improvement centers. I use it on all of the stone in my own home and I have even more types than listed above. It is safe for children and pets, effective at removing stains and general grunge, won’t harm most any stone, and it cleans, protects and doesn’t affect a variety of finishes.
