How can i change the colour of henna (mehndi) from orange to black or some other colour?
regardless of what other people have said, NEVER use “black henna” to darken your henna – it is an industrial strength coal tar dye called PPD and is very toxic! For more information, check the source. Using black henna can cause burning, itching, rashes, lifelong allergies and even anaphylactic shock. That being said, henna is a natural plant dye – it is not meant to be a fake tattoo, it was never intended to look like a tattoo. If you don’t want the natural reddish brown, than use another product like temptu or jagua to achieve a different look. If your henna is not dark reddish brown, it may be due to stale or poorly applied henna, it may be because you are henna’ing skin that is too thin (ie neck) or you may have applied a lotion before hand that is blocking the henna. You can darken the henna somewhat by either applying tigerbalm over it or re-applying the henna. Other methods of darkening henna such as ammonia rinses, are not recommended.
