How can I cancel pending transaction on my debit card?
Apart from contacting the merchant and having them phone your bank with a canceling number there is nothing you yourself can do. Banks have implemented this because for example someone is dishonest and decides they want an item but don’t want to pay for it then they would cancel a transaction. It is done to keep everyone honest and to avoid legal hassles. If you returned the item or it’s a genuine mistake concerning amount etc then you have to wait for it to clear and phone your bank and they will file a dispute for you.Make sure you have receipts etc because the person assigned your dispute will probably ask for them.
